International City of Gastronomy in Dijon
Following a call for expression of interest by the City of Dijon, Eiffage Aménagement and Eiffage Immobilier were selected in mid-December 2014 to build the International City of Gastronomy (Cité internationale de la gastronomie) in Dijon (Côte-d’Or).
The International City of Gastronomy, due to open in 2018, aims to promote the “French gourmet meal” (included in the Unesco world heritage list in 2010) with an emphasis on wines, for which Dijon has been described as the “key centre” within the network of gastronomic cities. The project, which represents a total surface area of over 20,000m², will include exhibition halls, a conference centre, shops, restaurants, a wine pavilion, special training premises, a tourist residence, a four star 90-room hotel, a multiplex cinema, as well as an eco-district with 640 accommodation units.
Eiffage previously won the contract to build the Lyon International City of Gastronomy (Rhône) in the Grand Hôtel-Dieu building, and so will have built two out of the four International City of Gastronomy centres due to open in France (Dijon, Lyon, Rungis and Tours).
