Stepping into the void near the Aiguille du Midi
Teams from Laubeuf, an Eiffage Construction Métallique subsidiary, achieved the remarkable feat of building a “glass box” at an altitude of 3,842 meters at the cablecar station on Aiguille du Midi mountain.
Perched 1,000 metres above the valley, this structure is anchored by two steel semi-portals that are in turn secured to the steel frame of the cablecar station deck.

It is designed to withstand temperature variations of 70°C, winds of up to 220 km/h as well as groups of up to four visitors jumping up and down. On 16 December 2013, the materials laboratory CSTB granted Laubeuf experimental technical approval for the new feature.
