New York Forum Africa: Eiffage demonstrates its expertise in sustainable city digital demonstrators
This is a first for Eiffage. The Group, via Eiffage Construction and the Sustainable Development Division, took part in the New York Forum Africa, which was recently organised in Libreville, the capital of Gabon. The Eiffage teams presented their expertise in the field of digital platforms for sustainable urban design.
The pan-African economic summit took place from 28 to 30 August 2015. The three-day forum attracted leaders from the worlds of business and politics, to discuss the theme “Invest in the Energy Continent”. France was represented by Ségolène Royal and Annick Girardin, respectively Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, and Minister of State for Development and Francophony, and by personalities such as Jean-Louis Borloo, creator of the “Énergies pour l’Afrique” foundation.
The teams from Eiffage presented the Astainable® sustainable city digital demonstrator, which was recently delivered to the governments of France and Kazakhstan. An earlier simplified version of a similar tool, named Librevie® in reference to the capital city of Gabon, was also recently the focus of much attention. Modeling interaction between the various components of a sustainable development project, Librevie® offers a global and systemic vision of the urban issues facing the city.
Librevie® models the entire city of Libreville in 3D and presents some initial low-carbon technology solutions, adapted according to a diagnostic of the local area. The President of the Republic of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba, who visited the Eiffage stand alongside Henri Walker, director of Eiffage Gabon, showed a lot of interest in the project.
