Eiffage Rail wins contract to reopen the Avignon-Sorgues-Carpentras rail link
Eiffage Rail, a subsidiary of Eiffage, has won a 15 million euro contract from the French Railways (RFF) for a project to reopen the Avignon-Sorgues-Carpentras (Vaucluse) passenger rail link, to make the region more accessible and facilitate travel within the department.
The project includes a connection to the Sorgues railway station and improvements to 16 km of rail lines between Sorgues and Carpentras, with the aim of opening up access to passenger and freight transport.
The work also includes reopening three stations to passenger access : Carpentras station and the Monteux and Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue stops. The Sorgues station will also be refurbished. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-June 2014.
