Eiffage leads consortium entrusted with civil works on Ivry-Paris XIII waste recovery centre worth €385 million
Eiffage, represented by its Eiffage TP subsidiary, has signed - as part of a consortium with Chantiers Modernes Construction, a subsidiary of Vinci - a civil works contract for the €385 million civil works Ivry-Paris XIII waste recovery centre.
This comprehensive contract, covering the facility’s design, construction and operation, and worth €1.8 billion over 23 years, half of which being investments, was awarded by Syctom – the metropolitan household waste agency responsible for the management and recovery of waste from 84 towns in the Paris area – to the IP13 consortium, led by Suez Environnement subsidiary Sita and in which Eiffage TP is a co-contractor.
The project which will reduce the volume of waste incinerated on the site and improve its energy efficiency compared with the existing facility, notably includes the creation of a new energy recovery unit with a capacity of 350,000 tonnes a year and excavation of an underground link between the plant and the Quai Marcel-Boyer dock at Ivry-sur-Seine, in order to reduce the use of road transport by replacing it with river traffic.
The design and construction contract for the Ivry-Paris III waste recovery centre is to be completed within an overall time limit of 12.5 years subject to confirmation of the various engineering and works phases.
