Perpignan-Figueras High-Speed Rail Link
The Perpignan-Figueras high-speed rail link was handed over in February 2009. This 44.4 km section of line, which crosses the border between France and Spain inside the 8.3 km long Perthus tunnel, is designed to carry high-speed TGV trains travelling at 350 kph as well as freight convoys moving at 120 kph. Such versatility is unprecedented for this type of infrastructure. The concession for the new link – which will form part of a European north-south high-speed rail network – has been awarded to the specially-created company TP Ferro, a 50/50 joint venture owned by Eiffage and ACS Dragados, a major Spanish construction and public works player.
